In full: "It was very nice of you to send your article about my mother. I did enjoy reading it. I hope you are making progress with the plaque. Please let me know where I could send a small donation. Continued good luck with the project. My best regards". James Roosevelt (1907-1991), the eldest son of President Franklin Roosevelt and Anna Eleanor Roosevelt, organized an insurance firm in Boston, became a secretary to his father and then served in the U.S. Marine Corps through WWII (1940-1945). He later represented California in the U.S. Congress from 1955-1965. After a year as U.S. representative with the U.N. Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, Roosevelt returned to the private sector as a public relations consultant. He wrote several books, including My Parents: A Differing View (1976), intended as a rebuttal to his brother Elliott Roosevelt's book detailing his parents' sex lives. Stella Hershan would write a laudatory book about Eleanor Roosevelt, The Candles She Lit. Normal mailing folds. Light surface creases. Slightly toned. Otherwise, fine condition.
