place, 1972 September 12. On his letterhead as Commissioner of the
Yukon to Danny Franklin, Phoenix, Arizona. In full: "As you
requested in your letter of August 16, I am returning herewith the autographed
postcard. [Item not included.] Thank you for the kind comments in your
letter. I am sorry to hear of the difficulties you had on your vacation and hope
your next trip to this country wil be more enjoyable. Sincerely". James
Smith was President of the Whitehorse Board of Trade, an Alderman from that
town, and Councilor of the Yukon Legislative Council. Appointed the Territory's
Commissioner in 1966, he retired from that office in 1976. Lightly creased near
top edge. Light paperclip impression and stain in upper left corner. Otherwise,
fine condition.
