JAMES THOMSON
Blue felt tip signature on a 4½x2½ card
Signature: "James Thomson", 4½x2½ card. After first perfecting the technique on non-human primates, James Thomson developed the first human embryonic stem cell line (1998). A decade later, Thomson's lab found a way to get human skin cells to behave like embryonic stem cells, without using an embryo. Thomson, based in Wisconsin, is associated with the Morgridge Institute for Research, the University of Wisconsin Medical School, and the Genome Center there. In 2008, Time magazine numbered Thomson among the 100 most influential living persons in the world. Fine condition.
