Typed Note signed: "James W. Good" as Secretary of War, 5x3. Printed heading: "War Department". In full: "I am pleased to add my autograph to your collection. Yours very truly". James William Good (1866-1929), a Republican from Iowa, served in the US House of Representatives (1909-1921), chairing the Appropriations Committee from 1917. After securing adoption of some budgetary reforms, he resigned to practice law in Chicago. President Hoover named him Secretary of War in 1929, but he died 8 months later of a ruptured appendix. Lightly toned and soiled. Otherwise, fine condition.
