card. Jamie Lloyd Whitten (1910-1995) was born in Cascilla, Mississippi.
After attending the University of Mississippi at Oxford he was admitted to the
bar in 1932 and began practicing law in Charleston, Mississippi. He was a member
of the Mississippi State House of Representatives (1931-1932) and
district attorney of the 17th district of Mississippi (1933-1941). After
the resignation of Senator Wall Doxey he was elected to fill his seat as a
U.S. Senator from Mississippi. He served in the seat from November 4,
1941 until January 3, 1995. He was chairman for the Committee on
Appropriations from the 96th through the 102nd Congresses. Fine condition.
