Typed letter signed: "Jane Alexander" in black ink. 1 page,
8½x11. Written on National Endowment for the Arts letterhead. Washington, D.C.
November 24, 1994. Addressed to Ms. Diane David of Fountain Hills, Arizona.
In full: "Thank you for your letter. Enclosed is an autographed photo
for your collection. I'm glad to know of your appreciation of my work over the
years. Best wishes. Sincerely". Stage, screen and television actress Jane
Alexander portrayed the First Lady in two TV specials, Eleanor and
Franklin (1976) and Eleanor and Franklin: the White House Years
(1977). Alexander won a Tony Award for The Great White Hope (1969)
and an Emmy Award for Playing for Time (1981). She also was
nominated for Academy Awards for Best Actress for The Great White
Hope (1971) and Testament (1983) and nominated for Best Supporting
Actress Oscars for All the President's Men and Kramer vs.
Kramer (1979).She chaired the National Endowment for the Arts
