"Dear Lucile Nelms: Do forgive me, please, for not answering your nice letter before this.
Between the summer's heat and an unusual amount of extra work, my correspondence got
way beyond my control, and now I'm now endeavoring to catch up. It's very sweet of you to
say I've helped to make your vacation a pleasant one, and I'm sorry that school starts soon and
you won't be able to listen! Indeed, I do remember playing in Danville, and it's nice to know
that I had the pleasure of performing for you. Many thanks for your good wishes and please
let me hear from you once in a while, even though you aren't able to hear the program,
because you are the type of woman with whom I like to keep in touch. Sincerely". Jane Cowl
