Photograph signed: "Jane Greer" in blue felt tip, color, 4x6. Singer and actress Jane Greer
(1924-2001), born Bettejane Greer, began her career singing with big bands and on the
radio. Greer was brought to Hollywood by Howard Hughes, who spotted her in a 1942
issue of Life magazine. Kept a virtual prisoner by Hughes, Greer fled Hollywood and married
crooner Rudy Vallée, whom she had met while performing on radio. The marriage was
short-lived (December 2, 1943-July 27, 1944) and Greer returned to Hughes and her contract.
She made her film debut in 1945's Pan-Americana and would go on to appear in numerous
feature films, including Sinbad the Sailor (1947), You're in the Navy Now (1951), The
Prisoner of Zenda (1952), and Man of a Thousand Faces (1957). Greer, who debuted on
television in The Revlon Mirror Theater (1953), appeared in several made-for-TV movies
and made guest appearances on shows through 1990. Greer had recurring roles on Falcon
Crest (as Charlotte Pershing, 1984-1985) and Twin Peaks (as Vivian Smythe, 1990). Her
second husband (1947-1963) was producer Edward Lasker, with whom she had three
children. In 1960, she was awarded a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Fine
condition.
