JANE WYATT and ARMINA MARSHALL
Wyatt and Marshall sign letter of agreement regarding the radio production of A Square Peg
Carbon Typed DS: "Jane Wyatt" in ink as Performer and "Armina Marshall" as Executive Producer of The Theatre Guild on the Air, 1p, 8½x11. New York City, 1953 March 4. Wyatt agrees to a modification of her contract, dated June 14, 1951, with The Theatre Guild, Inc., New York, N.Y., for her performance in the radio play, A Square Peg, to be broadcast on March 15. She is to receive $1,000 and co-star credit. Stage, screen and television actress JANE WYATT (1910-2006) had an established film career dating back to the 1930s (Lost Horizon, 1937; Boomerang, 1947). She is best known, however, for her role as the popular wife and mother on TV's Father Knows Best (1954-1962), for which she won three Emmy Awards. Wyatt's later roles included Spock's mother on the Star Trek TV series and in the feature film, Star Trek IV (1986). ARMINA MARSHALL, who first appeared on the Broadway stage in 1924, became a prominent playwright and producer. The Theatre Guild, which she and her husband, Lawrence Langer, founded in 1919, still flourishes, having produced over 200 Broadway plays. Marshall and Langer received a Tony Award for the stage version of Sunrise at Campobello in 1958 and a special Tony Award (1961) for organizing the first repertory group to tour the world for the U.S. State Department, at President Kennedy's behest. Lightly creased, touching the final "t" of Wyatt. Ink check mark (unknown hand) at upper right margin. Overall, fine condition.
