JANE WYMAN
Warner Bros. adjusts the actress' pay after she declines to appear in a projected film
Document signed: "Jane Wyman", 3p, 8½x11. Beverly Hills, California, 1952 June 6. She signs on p3 her acceptance of a documentary letter from Warner Bros. modifying her contract of 1947 August 11 in light of her declining to appear in a second film for the company in 1952. She had already completed The Story of Will Rogers but declined to Back to Broadway, as Warner Bros. had requested. Wyman has also intialed ("JW") the striking out of a paragraph stating the she will not make any television contracts while still receiving weekly compensation from Warner Bros. Actress Jane Wyman (1917-2007, born Sarah Jane Fulks) was married to future U.S. President Ronald Reagan from 1940 to 1948, and was the mother of his children Michael and Maureen. Emerging as a major film star with The Lost Weekend (1945), she won the Academy Award for Best Actress for Johnny Belinda (1948), and was nominated for Best Actress Oscar for The Yearling (1946), The Blue Veil (1951) and The Magnificent Obsession (1954). She hosted a twice Emmy-nominated dramatic anthology on TV, The Jane Wyman Show (1955-1958), and returned to the small screen as the ruthless Angela Channing on the series, Falcon Crest (1981-1990). Faint ½-inch stain on p3, not at signature. Staple holes in upper left corner. Otherwise, fine condition.
