Carbon Document Signed: "Jane Wyman" in ink, 1p, 8½x11. Burbank, California, 1946 September 25. Contract in letter form from Warner Bros., signed by an assistant treasurer, to Wyman (then married to Ronald Reagan). She has signed in the lower left, agreeing that "the period of our present refusal to pay you compensation under your employment contract with us, pursuant to our notice to you dated August 10, 1946, shall not extend beyond October 7, 1946, irrespective of whether or not the motion picture entitled 'MAGIC TOWN' shall have commenced by such date...." Magic Town, starring Wyman and James Stewart, was released in 1947. Actress Jane Wyman (1917-2007, born Sarah Jane Fulks) was married to future U.S. President Ronald Reagan from 1940 to 1948, and was the mother of his children Michael and Maureen. Emerging as a major film star with The Lost Weekend (1945), she won the Academy Award for Best Actress for Johnny Belinda (1948), and was nominated for Best Actress Oscar for The Yearling (1946), The Blue Veil (1951) and The Magnificent Obsession (1954). She hosted a twice Emmy-nominated dramatic anthology on TV, The Jane Wyman Show (1955-1958), and returned to the small screen as the ruthless Angela Channing on the series, Falcon Crest (1981-1990).
