Janet Gaynor (1906-1984) was a star of the late silent era and early talkies whose charming, gentle voice was ideally suited to sound in films. She won the firstAcademy Award for Best Actress (1927/1928) for her performances as Diane in Seventh Heaven, Angela in Street Angel and the wife in Sunrise (the early Oscars were often given for cumulative work).She was nominated for the 1938 Oscar for her role as Esther Blodgett/Vicki Lester in A Star is Born. Saul Goodman (1919-2003), a New York business man by day, pursued his love of film and theatre in the evening, making friends with many celebrities. While other autograph seekers offered album leaves, Goodman presented stars with snazzy photographs, a rarity then, to sign in fountain pen. Scattered light surface marks and mild silvering. Fine condition.
