B/w publicity photo by Basch of Paige from the shoulders up in a fur wrap - and not much else - signed "Sincerely" in purple ink
Inscribed photograph signed "To George/Sincerely-/Janis Paige". With pencil notations on verso in unknown hand. B/w, 7¾x9½ overall, 7¼x9¼ image, one surface. Inscribed in lower left corner: "Basch". Paige, born Donna Mae Tjaden in Tacoma, Washington in 1922, is an American actress with over 90 TV shows and movies to her credit. Her first show business job was as a singer at the Hollywood Canteen in Los Angeles, California, a free club for servicemen. Not surprisingly, one of her first movie appearances was in Hollywood Canteen (1944). She played a few ingenue and second lead roles before leaving for Broadway in 1951, where she earned a total of five acting credits, including The Pajama Game, which ran for 1,063 performances from 1954 to 1956. Her Hollywood career wasn't as successful; she saw her role in the film adaptation of The Pajama Game go to rival Doris Day, but she did score one memorable role as an Esther Williams-like movie star in Silk Stockings. Many of her late credits were on TV, especially in serials like General Hospital, Capitol and Santa Barbara and as a watiress who has a brief affair with Archie Bunker on All in the Family. Lightly toned and bowed. Lightly discolored and stained in corners. Lightly dented on left edge. Otherwise in fine condition.
