Dauphin starred as Gil while Sullavan played Denny. Janus was Sullavan's last Broadway appearance and Dauphin's third of five. MARGARET SULLAVAN (1911-1960) was an American stage, TV and movie actor. Sullavan debuted in Hollywood in 1933's Only Yesterday, where she received her one and only nomination for Best Actress, and appeared in movies until 1950's No Sad Songs for Me. She co-starred with James Stewart four times in Next Time We Love (1936), Shopworn Angel (1938), The Mortal Storm (1940) and The Shop Around the Corner (1940). She also appeared in 13 Broadway productions between 1926 and 1956. CLAUDE DAUPHIN (1903-1978), a French actor who began as a set designer, appeared in films for almost forty years, beginning in 1930. His stage debut occurred the same year, when he was working on a production's set design. An actor grew sick and Dauphin learned the role in just two hours. After World War II, his roles included many English-language films, such as April in Paris (1952), Two for the Road (1967) and The Madwoman of Chaillot (1969). He made guest appearances on American television and appeared in five Broadway plays, including The Happy Time (1950-1951). He appears in the cult classic Barbarella (1968) as the President of Earth. Lightly toned and creased. Emulsion has chipped off photograph at top, right and left edges. Dauphin's signature is lightly smeared. Pens skipped while writing signatures. Tape on verso is toned. Otherwise, fine condition.
