JASCHA HEIFETZ, FLORENCE HEIFETZ and MARTHA EGGERTH
Jascha Heifetz, Florence Heifetz, and Martha Eggerth sign an album leaf.
Autograph Note Signed: "Jascha Heifetz" in French, 1p, 5x3½. In full: "To Sarita Grassi-/A good souvenir-". His wife has added: "Florence Heifetz - 1940". On verso: "very cordially/Marta Eggerth/1940" in Italian. Jascha Heifetz (1900-1987) is universally regarded as the greatest violinist of the 20th century. After great success as a child prodigy in Europe, Heifetz immigrated to the United States at the age of 16 (1917). He became an even greater artist in his mature years, combining brilliantly reasoned, tranquil interpretation with unsurpassed virtuoso technique. Silent screen actress FLORENCE ARTO (1895-1977) married film director King Vidor in 1915. They separated in 1917 and divorced in 1924. Florence married violinist Jascha Heifetz in 1928. They divorced in 1946. Singer-actress MARTHA EGGERTH (1912-2013), an established star in European films, appeared in two Judy Garland musicals in the 1940s. Slightly soiled and creased. Slight irregular left edge from removal of book.
