added: "Florence Heifetz - 1940". On verso: "very
cordially/Marta Eggerth/1940" in Italian. Jascha Heifetz (1900-1987)
is universally regarded as the greatest violinist of the 20th century. After
great success as a child prodigy in Europe, Heifetz immigrated to the United
States at the age of 16 (1917). He became an even greater artist in his mature
years, combining brilliantly reasoned, tranquil interpretation with unsurpassed
virtuoso technique. Silent screen actress FLORENCE ARTO (1895-1977)
married film director King Vidor in 1915. They separated in 1917 and divorced in
1924. Florence married violinist Jascha Heifetz in 1928. They divorced in 1946.
Singer-actress MARTHA EGGERTH (1912-2013), an established star in
European films, appeared in two Judy Garland musicals in the 1940s. Slightly
soiled and creased. Slight irregular left edge from removal of
book.
