JAY JOHNSTONE This sepia-toned 3½x5¼ photograph is signed by the MLB prankster who often targeted manager Tommy Lasorda Photograph Signed: "Jay Johnstone", 3½x5¼. Sepia-toned. Jay Johnstone (b. 1946) played for the Angels, White Sox, Athletics, Phillies, Yankees, Padres, Dodgers and Cubs between 1966 and 1985. An outfielder from Edgewood High, Johnstone was signed as an amateur free agent in 1963.  He won two World Series Rings, one with the Yankees in 1978 and another with the Dodgers in 1981. He also is remembered for securing Clyde Wright's no-hitter for the Angels in 1970 by catching a fly ball just in front of the wall. Johnstone saw the most playing time with the Philadelphia Phillies, appearing in over 100 games from 1975 to 1977. A congenial player with a hearty sense of humor, he was known around the league as one of the MLB's best pranksters. One popular gag that he pulled frequently was nailing teammates' cleats to the floor. His best jokes and gags have been recalled in his books Temporary Insanity (1985), Over the Edge (1987), and Some of My Best Friends Are Crazy (1990), all three of which he co-authored with sportswriter Rick Talley. He is a lifetime .267 hitter with 102 home runs and 531 RBIs. In the mid-1980s, Johnstone began appearing in television and film productions as an actor. Among a few other credits, he made a small appearance in The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad! (1988). Corners cut in a rounded manner. Otherwise, fine condition.
