California, August 29, 1991, FIRST DAY OF ISSUE. In 1992, former standup
comedian Leno, born James Douglas Muir Leno in New Rochelle New Yorkin 1950, captured Johnny Carson's seat as host of The Tonight
Show, besting rival David Letterman. Ironically, Leno had made a record
number of visits to Late Night With David Letterman as well as serving as
Carson's permanent guest host. Although Leno's earlier shows consistently lost
to Letterman in the ratings race, The Tonight Show won an Emmy in 1995

show in 2009 and will be replaced by late late night talk show host Conan
O'Brien. Fine condition.
