JAY SILVERHEELS
Silverheels signed this contract to sign the firm of
Craig-Goldin-Dennis as his agent, for a 10-percent commission, in 1973. He had
small roles in three westerns in 1973.
Contract signed: "Jay Silverheels" on page 7 and initialed
"J. S." on page 1, 7p, 8½x11, bound with red wax pad remnants at top
edge. Los Angeles, California, 1973 February 17. Titled: "Television
Motion Picture/Artists' Manager Contract/(Agency Contract)". Silverheels signed
this one-year contract to hire the firm of Craig-Goldin-Dennis in return for a
10-percent commission. The agency seemed to have come through for Silverheels,
as he had small roles in three movies in 1973, all of them westerns: One
Little Indian, The Man Who Loved Cat Dancing and Santee.
Silverheels (1919-1980, born on the Six Nations Reservation, Brantford,
Ontario, Canada) was the son of a Mohawk Indian Chief and made a name for
himself as a star lacrosse player and amateur boxer before entering films in the
mid-1940s. He appeared in many films, often in uncredited roles, before assuming
his most famous role: as the Lone Ranger's faithful Indian companion Tonto in
the TV series The Lone Ranger (1949-1957). Silverheels was a frequent
guest star on TV and had small roles in several westerns after The Lone
Ranger. Lightly toned, stained and creased. Red wax pad remnants at top edge
of all pages. Otherwise, fine condition.
