Remaining in defense research, he played a key role in developing SAGE (Semi-Automatic Ground Environment), a technology crucial to NORAD's air defense system. Since joining the faculty of the Sloane School at MIT (1956), Forrester has pioneered computer models of social systems. He is the founder of the System Dynamics company.
