JAYNE MANSFIELD AND MICKEY HARGITAY The husband and wife actors signed this black and white photograph that features them and three of Jayne's children: Miklós Hargitay, Zoltán Hargitay, and Jayne Marie Mansfield. Extremely Rare! Inscribed Photograph Signed: "To Howard / Fondly / Jayne / Mansfield" and "Mickey Hargitay". B/w. 10x8 photograph. Actual image 9½x7½ with a white border (one surface). Also pictured are three of Jayne Mansfield's five children. From left to right: Miklós Jeffrey Palmer Hargitay (b. 1958), Jayne Marie Mansfield (b. 1950), and Zoltán Anthony Hargitay (b. 1960). Jayne Marie is the only child of Jayne Mansfield and Paul Mansfield, who were married from 1950 to 1958. Jayne and Mickey would go on to have a third child in addition to Miklós and Zoltán named Mariska (b. 1964), famous for her role on Law &Order: Special Victims Unit (1999-Present). Jayne Mansfield (1933-1967) was an American actress and sex goddess of the 1950s and 1960s. She first gained critical acclaim for her classic performance as a Monroe-like movie starlet in the Broadway play Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter? (1955-1956). The role won her a contract at 20th Century-Fox. In 1963's Promises! Promises!, Mansfield became the first major actress to appear nude on-screen. Despite a number of good dramatic performances, she was forever typecast as a parody of Marilyn Monroe, a stereotype that was probably aggravated by her appearance as Miss February 1955 in Playboy. Mansfield was only 34 when she was died in a car crash on the way to a club engagement in New Orleans. Mickey Hargitay (1926-2006), born Miklos Hargitay in Budapest, became a bodybuilder and won the Mr. Universe title in 1955. He then joined Mae West's stage show, where he was seen by Mansfield. Despite West's efforts to break up the couple, they were married in January 1958. The couple made several films together, including Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter? (1957), The Loves of Hercules (1960, with Hargitay in the title role) and Promises! Promises! (1963). In August 1967, Mansfield died in a car accident en route to a nightclub appearance. The couple had three children: two sons and a daughter. Their daughter, Mariska Hargitay (whom actor Nelson Sardelli claimed to have fathered), became an actress. Mickey appeared on her successful TV series, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, in 2003. Edges toned. Three-quarter inch horizontal tear along right edge cuts into image. Light creasing around edge. Pinhole near signature in top right (legible). Otherwise, fine condition.
