JEAN BELIVEAU
Shown in Montreal Canadiens uniform, kneeling by the Stanley Cup in a
4x6 photo
Photograph signed: "Jean Beliveau/#4". Color, 4x6. Canadian
hockey icon Jean Arthur Beliveau (1931-2014), who was known as
"Le Gros Bill", played his entire career for the Montreal Canadiens
from the 1950-1951 through the 1970-1971 seasons. The winner of the Art
Ross Memorial Trophy (1956), the Hart Memorial Trophy (1956, 1964)
and the Conn Smythe Trophy (1965), Beliveau played on ten Stanley
Cup-winning teams, captaining five of them. At the time of his retirement,
he had been a NHL All-Star thirteen times, and had racked up 507 goals
and 712 assists. His #4 jersey was retired in 1971 and Beliveau was
inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1972. Although he declined the
offer of Governor General of Canada, Beliveau was honored on Canada's Walk of
Fame in 2001, the year a Canadian postage stamp bearing his likeness was
issued. Ink note (unknown hand) on verso. Fine condition.
