Document signed "Jean A. Carroll" in blue ink. Green and blue
ink notations in unknown hand. 2 pages, 6¼x9, 1 sheet, front and verso. With
6¼x3¼ initiation fee receipt carbon copy with perforated left edge stapled at
top edge. May 6, 1955. Membership form for the American Federation of
Television and Radio Artists. Luscious model and dancer Carroll
(1916-1990) came from a show biz family, with parents who acted and traveled the
vaudeville circuit. She appeeared in 11 Broadway productions, mostly musicals
and revues, between 1918 and 1940 and was eye candy for MGM and Hal Roach
Studios from 1931 and 1932. She also appeared in the hour-long variety movie
Varieties on Parade (1951) and four stripper films: French Follies
(1951), A Night in Hollywood (1953), Naughty New Orleans (1954)
and Dream Follies (1954).Lightly toned and creased. Black ink smudge
touches signature. Notations, but not signature, are light smeared and creased
but legible. Form has light nicks in bottom right corner. Receipt is missing top
right corner, has light nicks and dent in top edge and carbon copy marks.
Otherwise in fine condition.
