ink, b/w,8x10. Jean Carroll (1911-2010), born Celine Zeigman, was an actress and
comedienne popular during the 1950s and 1960s who began her career as a dancer with the
comedic dance team Carroll and Howe. She appeared on the Ed Sullivan Show dozens of
times and even had her own sitcom which lasted for a single season (1953-1954).
Considered one of the earliest highly-successful female comics, Carroll was honored with an
evening at the Friar's Club in 2006 and featured in the 2009 PBS documentary, Make 'em
Laugh. Surface creases seen head-on. Toned. Corners worn and creased. Signature lightly
beaded, not affecting legibility. Otherwise, fine condition.
