JEAN MUIR
The actress writes a note to a friend saying "To Jenny, a redhead,
who is one redhead without a temper".
Autograph Note signed: "To Jenny, a redhead, who is one redhead
without a temper. Affectionately Jean Muir", 4½x6 album leaf. Jean Muir
(1911-1996) appeared in films for a decade, from Son of a Sailor
(1933) to The Constant Nymph (1943), but preferred the theatre because
she felt Hollywood wasn't giving her strong enough roles. She was supposed to
star in TV's The Aldrich Family, but was blacklisted during the McCarthy
era. Distraught at the ruin of her acting career, Muir began to drink
heavily, but recovered to make a return to television in guest appearances
through 1962 (Route 66, Naked City). Three holes at top from
previous binding. Toned at edges. Slightly worn at edges. Otherwise, fine
condition.
