JEAN ROGERS
Jean Rogers sends an autograph letter of regret that a fan did not get the photographs that he requested and to make arrangements to replace them.
Autograph Letter Signed: "Jean Rogers", 1p, 5¾x7½. No place, no date. On blue stationery to "Dear Pat". In full: "Received your letter and I must admit I am confused. I know you sent photos to be signed and requested photos personally signed, and you enclosed a check for $8.50. If you didn't receive them I will replace them of your choice. Do specify which ones again and I will send them right away. I am sorry about this mix up. I did have several addresses for on you. Do tell me how did you get my home address? Do you have Busters' address? Sincerely". The "Buster" mentioned in this letter is probably Buster Crabbe, Rogers' co-star in two Flash Gordon films. Actress Jean Rogers (1916-1991), born Eleanor Lovegren, is best known for her role as Dale Arden in two Flash Gordon films: Flash Gordon (1936) and Flash Gordon's Trip to Mars (1938). Rogers, who originally hoped to study art in New York, won a beauty contest in 1933 and was signed by Warner Bros. The following year, she went to Universal, where she appeared in several serials and "B" films. Rogers left Universal for 20th Century-Fox in 1939, remaining for two years before signing with M-G-M. Before retiring in 1951, Rogers appeared in over 50 films, including My Man Godfrey (1936), Ace Drummond (1936), Charlie Chan in Panama (1940), Brigham Young (1940), Dr. Kildare's Victory (1942), Backlash (1947) and The Second Woman (1951). Slightly creased with fold, not at signature. Fine condition.
