Autograph Letter Signed: "Jean Webster". 3½x5¼. Two pages. Features letterhead indicating
her address: 55 West Tenth Street. In Full: "'Information' assured me that I could get you at
Gramercy 4993 - but I don't seem to have been successful. I am having a play produced tomorrow
by the Sargent pupils and I shall be very pleased if you and Mrs. Lowell can come to it". Jean
Webster (1876-1916) was a fiction author who wrote several publications during her life,
most notably Daddy-Long-Legs (1912) and Dear Enemy (1915). Daddy-Long-Legs has
been turned into several screen productions, including the films Curly Top (1935) and Daddy
Long Legs (1955), and the animated television series Daddy Long-legs (1990). Common
themes in her novels include women's suffrage and eugenics. Toned. Otherwise, fine
