JEFF BAGWELL. Baseball Bat signed: "Jeff Bagwell".
Imprinted "Rawlings - Adirondack/Big Stick/Professional Model." In the tradition
of the team which sold Babe Ruth to the Yankees, the Boston Red Sox swapped
minor leaguer Bagwell to the Houston Astros in 1990 for a fractional season of
bullpen help. Bagwell, who had grown up in Boston wanting to play for the Sox,
instead became National League Rookie of the Year in 1991, and went on to
an almost certain Hall of Fame career in Houston. A 5-time All-Star, Bagwell
was NL MVP in 1994, when he batted .368 (.451 OBP, .750 slugging!), led the
league in both runs scored and runs batted in, and garnered earned a Gold Glove
at 1B. Bagwell twice (1997, 1999) hit more than 40 homers and stole more
than 30 bases in the same season. Fine condition.
