Typed Letter signed: "Jeff/ Chandler" in grey ink, 1p, 7¼x10¼. On the actor's personalized
letterhead. To "Dear Nancy". In full: "At last I have a few free moments to answer your latest
letter. And many thanks, too!/ As for joining my fan club --- I am not too sure whether you mean
my motion picture fan club of my record fan club./ If you are interested in my motion picture club,
just fill out the enclosed form and mail it to Joan Pitts, at the indicated address./ As for my record
fan club --- we'd be very happy to have you --- but here's the proposition. Because the club is still so
new, there are no clubs formed in your city. How would you like to start one and be the chapter
president?/ I hope this answers your question, and until I hear from you, I am,/ Sincerely”. Jeff
Chandler (1918-1961), born Ira Grossel, began his career as a radio actor and made his film
debut in 1947. In 1950, he made the first of three performances on the big screen as

Chandler, who also recorded several albums and sang in nightclubs, was one of the top
leading men of the 1950s. He died at 42, shortly after making Merrill's Marauders (1962),
from blood poisoning that occurred during spinal surgery. Creased throughout. Two
horizontal mailing folds. Otherwise, fine condition.
