Signed movie still, shown as a vigilante in Superman and the Mole Men
Photograph signed: "Jeff Corey". B/w, 10x8. Shown with George Reeves, Phyllis Coates and others in Superman and the Mole Men (the pilot for TV's Adventures of Superman). Stage and screen actor Jeff Corey (1914-2002) earned a reputation for his Shakespearean roles on New York stages of the late 1940s, before moving to Hollywood for film character roles in the 1940s. After wartime service, during which he received a citation for filming a kamikaze attack on the carrier Yorktown, he returned to films and then to television. He is shown here as a vigilante arguing with Superman (George Reeves). Corey's acting career was interrupted, however, when he refused to "name names" before the House Un-American Activities Committee and was blacklisted for a dozen year. Making the best of his misfortune, Corey became a highly regarded acting teacher, whose students included James Dean, Jack Nicholson, Robin Williams, Rob Reiner and many others. He returned to acting in the 1960s, appearing in dozens of TV episodes, and also directed, including ten episodes of Night Gallery (1970-1972). Fine condition.
