JEFFERSON AIRPLANE: GRACE SLICK, MARTY BALIN, PAUL KANTNER, JORMA KAUKONEN, JACK CASADY and SPENCER DRYDEN  This 15x10 glossy photo is a band photo of the legendary 1960s band Jefferson Airplane performing on a TV studio set. Signed by six members of the band, including its frontwoman and the group's co-founders Photograph signed: "Marty/Balin", "Spencer Dryden", "Jack Casady", "Paul/Kantner" and "Grace/Slick" in blue felt tip and "Jorma Kaukonen" in silver ink, b/w, 14¾x9¾. Singer/songwriter/guitarist BALIN (1942-2018), born Martyn Jerel Buchwald, co-founded Jefferson Airplane with singer/rhythm guitarist KANTNER (1941-2016) in 1965. Guitarist, singer, and songwriter KAUKONEN (b. 1940) was another early member of the group, and the one who urged his friend, bassist CASADY (b. 1944), to try out for Airplane. SLICK (b. 1939), born Grace Barnett Wing, was the lead singer for the rock group Jefferson Airplane from 1967 to 1973 and its successor Jefferson Starship (1974-1988). She also released four well-received solo albums in between touring and recording with the groups. DRYDEN (1938-2005) played drums with Jefferson Airplane during its peak years of 1966 to 1970. Jefferson Airplane's biggest hits include Somebody to Love and White Rabbit, both off the 1967 album Surrealistic Pillow. Although Jefferson Airplane disbanded in 1973, Kaukonen and Casady formed a spin-off group, Hot Tuna, in 1970, and both participated in the Jefferson Airplane reunion in 1989. Balin left the group in 1971, but returned to Jefferson Starship from 1975 to 1978. Although Slick seldom performed after 1990, she published her autobiography, Somebody to Love?: A Rock-and-Roll Memoir, in 1998. Minor defects in negative have been reproduced in photo. Otherwise, fine condition.
