Handwritten letter from the actress in response to a fan, apologizing
for writing on the back of his letter but saying that it saves her money by
allowing her to send it state-side through her sister in law
Autograph letter signed: "Jennifer", in blue ink, 5¼x7¼. 2
pages, with original letter written on verso and Holt's response on front.
January 27. In full: "Dear James Sorry to used the back of your own
letter but I seem to be out of note paper + I write on the back so that my
sister in law can mail them state side. (It won't cost so much so I'm returning
your $1.00 that you thoughtfully enclosed). She leaves in the morning. God Bless
you + best luck always". Jennifer Holt (1920-1997), starred in a
long list of B-Westerns in the 1940s for both Universal (under contract
1942-1943, occasional appearances thereafter) and Republic Pictures. She made
her film debut in 1941's Stick To Your Guns, billed as Jacqueline Holt in
honor of her father, Western actor Jack Holt. From 1950-1951, Holt
hosted a children's TV show, Panhandle Pete and Jennifer, which
won a 1951 Peabody Award, and she also made guest appearances on
several TV shows, including The Gabby Hayes Show (1956), Tales of
Wells Fargo (several episodes, 1957-1959) and Perry Mason (1958).
Corners slightly worn. Light surface creases. Lightly toned. Slightly soiled on
verso. Otherwise, fine condition.
