JENNIFER HOLT
The Western film actress sends letter to a fan, explaining that she has no photographs to send, signs name in red ink
Autograph letter signed: "Jennifer Holt" in red ink. 2 pages, 5½x7¾. November 15, no year. In full: "How very very nice of you to send me such a nice card - How ever did you know my birthday?? Dear James, it's not that I'm busy that I can't autograph a picture - it is, I regret to say that I haven't any pictures. It's been a very long time since I made pictures & the "stills" that I have are very few & pasted in my own scrapbook. However if you will inquire at Monie Star news - 212 E. 14th N.Y. 10003 & ask Paula Klaw - she will sell you one if she has them. Then please send to me & I will gladly autograph & send back to you. - I'll send a self address mailing envelope (can't get them here) plus mailing expenses. U.S. stamps aren't any good here, so I am returning yours which you so thoughtfully included. I'm sorry not to be able to oblige you but strange as it may seem - I get quite a few requests per week & after awhile - it runs into money. Again, I thank you for remembering me - Very sincerely". Jennifer Holt (1920-1997), starred in a long list of B-Westerns in the 1940s for both Universal (under contract 1942-1943, occasional appearances thereafter) and Republic Pictures. She made her film debut in 1941's Stick To Your Guns, billed as Jacqueline Holt in honor of her father, Western actor Jack Holt. From 1950-1951, Holt hosted a children's TV show, Panhandle Pete and Jennifer, which won a 1951 Peabody Award, and she also made guest appearances on several TV shows, including The Gabby Hayes Show (1956), Tales of Wells Fargo (several episodes, 1957-1959) and Perry Mason (1958). Normal mailing folds. Toned. Light surface creases. Corners rounded. Ink notes on verso in unknown hand. Otherwise, fine condition.
