To "Dear Patrick" [Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan]. In full: "At Home at night. Thanks for your gracious and generous words on March 9th in the Senate. I am very grataeful! With esteem and friendship, I am, Truly," Randolph (1902-1998), a West Virginia Democrat, served in the U.S. House of Representatives (1933-1947). Defeated for re-election in 1946, he left elective office for a decade, and then returned to the U.S. Senate (1958-1985). Randolph's service in Congress began with Franklin Roosevelt's first term and ended with Ronald Reagan's second, more than half a century later! DIRECTLY FROM THE SALE OF THE ESTATE OF DANIEL PATRICK MOYNIHAN. Moynihan (1927-2003) represented New York in the U.S. Senate as a Democrat for four terms (1977-2001). A prolific author, he served in the administrations of four Presidents: Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon and Ford". Date stamp on verso shows through lightly in left margin. Mounting tape visible at top and bottom. Pinhead sized spot in upper left, under tape. Estate inventory number stamped at left edge of mounting sheet. ¾-inch diameter red dot decal in upper right of mounting sheet. Otherwise, fine condition.
