Begins: "Dear Pat". In full: "Thanks for your cooperation in placing the American Legion Pro and Con in the magazine of current issue. I also express appreciation for your letter of April 4, in which you told me of the problem of going to Pittsburg for the Amen Corner speech. The officers hope you can speak there next year (for a stipend) I told them we would join in their request to you. And as a closing let me say 'Pat, the article about you (with good photos) that I read while flying to Prague during the recess. I am glad the magazine [x] had a generally helpful story to you.' Always at your side, I am, Truly". At left margin, Randolph has written: "[x] Politics Today." The Amen Corner is a civil and social organization founded in Pittsburgh in 1870. Moynihan was able to give a speech before the organization in April 1980. JENNINGS RANDOLPH (1902-1998), a West Virginia Democrat, served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1933-1947. Defeated for re-election in 1946, he left elective office for a decade, and then returned to national politics to serve in the U.S. Senate (1958-1985). DIRECTLY FROM THE SALE OF THE ESTATE OF DANIEL PATRICK MOYNIHAN. Moynihan (1927-2003) represented New York as a Democrat for four terms (1977-2001). A prolific author, he served in the administrations of four Presidents: Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon and Ford. Moynihan chaired the important Senate Finance Committee from 1993-1995. Estate inventory numbers stamped at left margins of all 3 sheets, written in ink (unknown hand) at upper margin of first sheet. Ink note (unknown hand) regarding "Priority/Congress/Senate" at upper right margin, ink check mark at upper margin. Staple holes at upper left blank margin of all 3 sheets. Fine condition.
