JEREMY TARCHER
The famed publisher signs a typed letter in which he jokes with actress/comedian Phyllis Diller, in black ink
Typed Letter Signed: "Jeremy" in black ink. 1 page. 8½x11. Place: Los Angeles, California. Date: February 17, 1993. On letterhead of Jeremy P. Tarcher, Inc., to actress/comedienne Phyllis Diller, Los Angeles. In full: "What a great 20/20. You should collect two percent of all the plastic surgery fees in the United States in the next three years on the basis of what you've done for those guys. The redhead on that show -- the one with the sock on her hand -- could you get me an intro? She's a cutie. So are you. Love". Jeremy Tarcher's (1932-2015) publishing firm, a subsidiary of the Putnam Group, concentrates on publishing books with "New Age" themes. In an essay written for the Los Angeles Times in 1988, Tarcher defined the four basic principles of the "New Age" worldview: "1. The everyday world and our personal consciousness is a manifestation of a larger divine reality. 2. Humans have a suppressed or hidden higher self that reflects or is connected to the divine element of the universe. 3. This Higher Self can be awakened and take a central part in the everyday life of the individual. 4. This awakening is the purpose or goal of human life." Tarcher is the brother of author Judith Krantz and was married to children's entertainer Shari Lewis. Fine condition.
