1924. Assignment of Canadian Copyright (for one dollar) of "a certain
title, song, words, music and musical work entitled: 'On a Desert Island With
You'...the author(s) of said words being P.G. Wodehouse Citizen (or subject) of
Great Britain Resident of East Hampton, N.Y...when the aforesaid words were
written and composed; the composer(s) of the music being Jerome Kern Citizen (or
subject) of United States Resident of Bronxville, New York...." The musical
Sitting Pretty opened on Broadway at the Fulton Theatre on April 8, 1924,
the day before this document was signed. "On a Desert Island With You"
was one of Sitting Pretty's 22 songs by JEROME KERN and Wodehouse.
Sitting Pretty closed on June 28th after 95 performances. Wodehouse
later worked with Kern on Show Boat (opened 1927), writing the lyrics for
the song "Bill". English novelist and humorist P.G. WODEHOUSE is best
known as the creator of Bertie Wooster and his valet, Jeeves. Lightly
creased. Staple holes at upper left blank corner, ¾-inch tear at blank left
margin at fold, lightly creased. Pencil note (unknown hand) at upper left
corner. Overall, fine condition.
