"Jerry" Apodaca (born in 1934) was the Governor of New Mexico from 1957-1979. The first Hispanic elected to the governorship since 1918, Apodaca reformed state government and was appointed as Chairman of the President's Council on Physical Fitness (1978) by President Jimmy Carter during his administration. Apodaca, who had previously served in the New Mexico State Senate (1966-1974), published periodicals for Hispanics after leaving office. He was the founder of "Vista Magazine" and the first publisher of "Hispanic Magazine". Before entering public service, Apodaca had owned an insurance business. Slightly creased at blank margins. Fine condition.
