Autograph Letter signed: "Jerry Barber" 1p, 7¼x10½. Los Angeles, California, 1967 April 28.
On his personal golf letterhead to "Dear Mr. Johnson". In full: "Thank you for your letter of 16
of April 1967 and please excuse my delay in answering. I have enclosed a card and must advise
you that since I did not see the round or play with her I cannot attest it. Perhaps you could have
her sign and I understand it is the Ladies record but am unable to produce the card itself. Perhaps
the other card and records you wish could be had from Mr. Ray Feliz, the course mgr. Sincerely".
Jerry Barber (1916-1994) won 7 PGA tournaments (1953-1963), including a
come-from-behind victory in the 1961 PGA Championship. In 1994, he competed in the
Buick Invitational, becoming at 77 the oldest competitor in a PGA event. He was captain of
the U.S. Ryder Cup Team in 1961. Three filing holes at left edge. Typed note at upper right
corner. Normal mailing folds. Lightly creased. Otherwise, fine condition.
