Clower in Liberty, Mississippi, 1926-1998) was a country comedian who gained
popularity in the early 1970s. A Mississippi fertilizer salesman known for his
wild stories and congenial humor, Clower first recorded and distributed his
comedy to help business sales before his tapes landed in the hands of Big Ed
Wilkes and Bud Andrews, radio jockeys in Texas. Wilkes and Andrews re-recorded
Clower's comedy tapes to create the platinum selling album The Coon Hunt,
which was followed by From Yazoo City --Mississippi Talkin (1971),
The Mouth of Mississippi (1972) and Clower Power (1973). MCA
signed Clower in 1973 and produced the majority of his 33 albums, including his
1979 Greatest Hits album which went Gold. An ordained Christian, he also
spoke at churches throughout the southern area. He is a noted inspiration to
comedian Jeff Foxworthy. Fine condition.
