These signers merit further research: "Thelma Jones", "Jory Romano". JERRY COLONNA (1904-1986) was a talented trombonist and comedian who sported a large handlebar mustache. He made several films, beginning with 52nd St (1937), joined Bob Hope on many USO tours, and was a frequent TV guest star in the 1950s and 1960s. He published a novel, The Loves of Tullio (1970). GLADYS SCHMITT (1909-1972) was an American author and professor, teaching at Carnegie-Mellon University from 1942 to 1972. She published several novels during her career, with her most popular being David the King, which sold more than a million copies and was translated into ten languages. MARGUERITE DE ANGELI (1889-1987) won the 1950 Newberry Award for her children's novel The Door in The Wall, which displayed her duel talent for writing and illustrating. The Door in the Wall was one of almost 30 original books drawn and written by de Angeli, with many of her works focusing on lower-class or common people facing struggles in their lives. The author was also recognized outside of her writing talent, being twice named a Caldecott Honor Book illustrator. Right and left edges frayed and slightly creased. Corners lightly worn. Lightly soiled, with fingerprint stain on top left margin. Slightly toned on outer edges. Otherwise, fine condition.
