JERRY COLONNA
The trombonist and comedian signs to appear on a TV drama.
Document signed: "Jerry Colonna", 1p (front and verso), 8½x11.
Hollywood, California, 1957 July 24. Colonna signs with CBS a standard
AFTRA TV contract to appear on the program Climax, to be broadcast August
1, 1957, for compensation of $1,500. Signed on front. (Printed on verso are the
standard AFTRA terms and condition.) Also initialed "JC" on two 1p
riders of same date affixed to front. One rider (8½x2½) promises Colonna "fourth
star billing" on the show. The other (8½x4½) promises him 25% additional
compensation for any replays of the program. Colonna (1904-1986) was a
talented trombonist and comedian who sported a large handlebar mustache. He
made several films, beginning with 52nd St (1937), joined Bob Hope on
many USO tours, and was a frequent TV guest star in the 1950s and 1960s. He
published a novel, The Loves of Tullio (1970). Riders attached to
document with staples at left edge. Minor edge wear. Binder holes at top have
broken through to edge. Otherwise, fine condition.
