The Paramount Pictures CEO signs his name in blue ink for child actor Billy Seay
Signature: "Jesse L. Lasky" in blue ink. 1 page, 5x6¾. Jesse L. Lasky (1880-1958) formed the JESSE L. LASKY Feature Play Company in 1913, persuaded by his brother-in-law, Samuel Goldwyn (then known as Sam Goldfish). In 1916, Famous Players merged with the Lasky Feature Play Company to form Famous Players-Lasky and after a few name changes, finally became Paramount Pictures. Jesse Lasky was forced to leave his job as head of production in 1932. He began a new career as an independent producer releasing through various studios including Fox and RKO. He partnered with Mary Pickford to form Pickford-Lasky Productions which made a few features in the mid-1930s such as The Gay Desperado (1936) with Leo Carrillo and Ida Lupino. From the album collection of child actor BILLY SEAY (1922-2012), who appeared in many films throughout the decade including The Greater Glory (1926), My Man (1928), and The Marriage Playground (1929). Seay would leave Hollywood in the early 1930s to become a noted artist and illustrator. Toned and soiled. Stains throughout. Creased throughout. Edges torn and slightly frayed. Otherwise, fine condition.
