Photograph signed "Jessica Dragonette" in blue ink. B/w, 8x10 overall, 7x9¼ image, one surface. Dragonette (1900-1980) was a singer who's probably best remembered for entertaining the troops and working for charities during World War II. She reportedly raised a record amount of war bonds and earned an honorary commission as Colonel. Dragonette began singing on radio in 1926 and was the first entertainer ever to be given a test for television as well as the first entertainer to have a broadcast beamed overseas, both in 1928. She has two movie credits, as a singer on The Big Broadcast of 1936 (1935) and as the singing voice of Princess Glory in the 1939 animated film Gulliver's Travels. Lightly bowed. Signature has low contrast in places but is legible. Light tears at right edge. Rounded corners. Otherwise in fine condition.
