Photograph signed: "Best/Wishes/Jimmy/Jewel/Ben/Warriss/1941". B/w, 4½x6¼, affixed to 5¼x6½ album leaf. Signatures on album leaf verso: "Wallace Lupino", "Good luck/Jack Warner". Cousins JIMMY JEWEL (1906-1995) and BEN WARRISS (1909-1993) formed a comedy team in 1934. They had a series of popular shows in British radio and television in the 1940s and 1950s. WALLACE LUPINO (1898-1961) played supporting roles in many films of the 1930s. He was the brother of comic actor Lupino Lane, and the uncle of actress Ida Lupino. British actor JACK WARNER (1895-1981) appeared in films for over sixty years, but is best known for playing George Dixon in the TV series, Dixon of Dock Green (1955-1976). In 1965, Warner was awarded the O.B.E. (Officer of the Order of the British Empire) for his services to drama. Photograph: Jewel's signature lightly smeared, but clearly legible. Slight scuffs to sentiment. Corners slightly worn. Light surface scratches and dents (not seen head on). Soiled across. Album leaf: Light surface creases. Left edge notched, frayed, and creased. Lightly soiled on verso surrounding affixed photograph and surrounding edges. Faint stain on front to right of Lupino's signature. Corners slightly worn and creased. Otherwise, fine condition.
