JIM BISHOP - TYPED LETTER SIGNED 05/11/1962 - HFSID 31776
Price: $220.00
JIM BISHOP. TLS: "Jim", 1p, 8½x11. Sea Bright, N.J.,
1962 May 11. On letterhead of King Features Syndicate to Lou (Sobol). In
full: "I am sorry to have missed the big affair. At the time, I was in
Florida. Dad sustained a heart attack in Grand Bahama and was flown on oxygen
into Miami. I was positive that he could not make it, but he fought his way out
of a coma and back up to health. He'll be 79 in October and yesterday he sat in
a jet with Dick Merrill of Eastern Airlines, homeward bound at 33,000 feet,
discussing air traffic. God gives. God takes away. Rita and Mack Millar told us
in Hollywood about your daughter and, thinking about some of your heartbreaks of
the past, I began to wonder just how much a man can stand. No one can console
you in any of these matters, but it seems sometimes as though tragedy is
reserved for those best able to withstand it. My affection for you goes back a
long way. It will last as long as you and I do. Sincerely." Jim Bishop

areas. Date stamp touches vignette. Overall, fine condition.
