JIM "FIBBER McGEE" JORDAN
Jim "Fibber McGee" Jordan signs an index card to a fan.
Inscribed signature: "To/Helen Bechtle/Sincerely/Fibber McGee/& Molly/Jim Jordan", 5x3 index card. Fibber McGee and Molly was a popular radio comedy show on NBC (1935-1959). The action revolved mainly around Fibber and Molly McGee, portrayed by JIM JORDAN (1896-1988) and his wife, MARIAN DRISCOLL JORDAN (1898-1961). The show was known for its vaudeville humor and Midwestern flavor. Their friends and neighbors would visit the McGees' home and discuss events of the day or join in on whatever the McGees were doing. Fibber was a braggart. He could never finish anything he started, and many times became involved in crusades that he couldn't win, as well as other ill-fated schemes. Molly McGee was patient, kind and level-headed. She always had a kind word for everyone and was the only person who could keep Fibber in check. McGee kept everything; he never threw anything away. All the stuff that was either "too good to throw away" or that he "might need some day" was kept in his closet. On each show (the audience expected it), McGee would go looking for something and remember he had it in his closet. When he opened the closet door, everything would fall out, but he would always find exactly what he was looking for. Fine condition.
