MUPPET CREATORS: JIM HENSON, JERRY JUHL and JOE RAPOSO
The Muppet Creators sign a contract for the publishing rights to music used in the Muppets television special, "The Great Santa Claus Switch".
Photocopy of a contract, signed in ink: "Jim Henson". 4p, 8½x11. No place, 1970 July 1. Countersigned: "Jerry Juhl" and Joseph G. Raposo". Agreement among Writer Jerry Juhl, Jonico Music, Inc. and Henson Associates, Inc., regarding publishing rights to music used in the Muppets television special, "The Great Santa Claus Switch". In 1969, JIM HENSON was approached to use his Muppets for the revolutionary educational show, Sesame Street. The Muppet Show (1976-1981) was the most popular first-run syndicated series in television history, reaching hundreds of millions of viewers in more than 100 countries. In addition to starring on Sesame Street (now in its fifth decade on television) and The Muppet Show, the Muppets have also appeared in other shows including Muppets Tonight and Fraggle Rock, and in feature films. Henson died suddenly in 1990 at the age of 53 of a bacterial infection. JERRY JUHL (1938-2005) was working in local children's television when he met Henson at a puppeteer convention. The two teamed up, with Juhl becoming head writer for The Muppet Show and the Muppet movies. Juhl went on to win two Emmys for his work on Sesame Street, where he worked puppets and provided for them while also writing scripts. JOE RAPOSO (1936-1989) composed scores for movies (The Possession of Joel Delaney, 1972) and television (Three's Company, 1977). He won an Oscar for Best Song in 1981: "The Great Muppet Caper." Staple and binder holes at top of each page. Minor flaws in margins, typical of early photocopies. Otherwise, fine condition.
