JIM & JESSE: JIM McREYNOLDS and JESSE McREYNOLDS
Signed b/w publicity photo by Double J Entertainment of bluegrass brother duet Jim and Jesse McReynolds
Photograph signed "Jim/McReynolds" and "Jesse/McReynolds". B/w, 10¼x7¾ overall, 9¼x6¾ image, one surface. Photo by Double J Entertainment. Captioned: "Stars of/WSM Grand/Ole Opry/Jim & Jesse". JESSE McREYNOLDS (1929-2023) who played the mandolin with the innovative cross-picking style he developed, paired with brother JIM McREYNOLDS (1927-2002, born in Coeburn, Virginia) on guitar and tenor as Jim & Jesse until Jim's death in 2002. They were supported by The Virginia Boys, a string trio which has included famed fiddler Vassar Clements and many other bluegrass stars. They had their own syndicated radio show in the 1960s. Garrett McReynolds, son of a deceased brother and former Virginia Boy Keith McReynolds, has taken Jim's place on guitar and vocals. In recent years, Jesse McReynolds has continued in the bluegrass tradition while also performing songs by rock artists like Chuck Berry and The Grateful Dead. Jim & Jesse are enshrined in the Country Music Hall of Fame and the Bluegrass Hall of Honor. Jesse has opened a music park, The Pick Inn, on his farm in Gallatin, Tennessee. Lightly toned, creased and bowed, otherwise in fine condition.
