He signs a release to allow a clip from Gomer Pyle at the 1965 Emmy Awards.
Documentary letter signed: "Jim Nabors", 1p, 8½x11. Hollywood, California, 1965 August 27. Nabors signs his agreement to a documentary letter from the National Broadcasting Company requesting his permission to show a brief excerpt from "Gomer Pyle Show & the World of Burlesque" on the 1965 Emmy Awards program, to be broadcast on September 12, 1965. The multitalented Nabors had shot to fame after his one-time guest shot as bumbling gas station attendant Gomer Pyle on The Andy Griffith Show was so popular with audiences that he was signed for the 1963-1964 season. After "Gomer" joined the Marines, he got his own show, Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C. (1964-1969), which ranked in the Nielsen "Top 10" in each of its five seasons. In 1964, Nabors first showed off his baritone voice on national TV on The Danny Kaye Show. He went on to record 28 albums, racking up five gold and one platinum record, and became a popular entertainer on the nightclub circuit. Nabors also appeared in the feature films The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas (1982), Stroker Ace (1983) and The Cannonball Run II (1984), and the 1985 made-for-TV reunion movie, Return to Mayberry. In 2001, "PFC Gomer Pyle" received an honorary promotion to Lance Corporal from the US Marine Corps. Light edge creases. Staple holes in upper left corner. Two light horizontal folds. Otherwise, fine condition.
